On the southeast corner of Carnegie Mellon University's campus, students line up from all sides at the smell of hotdogs sizzling on the grill. Joe's Hotdog stand is one of the only outside food vendors that sells on CMU's campus.  Rain or shine, students line up everyday to grab a hotdog from Joe's. Not only does he offer a delicious selection of tried-and-true favorites, but he makes it a point to know his customer and have a conversation with them. In appreciation of Joe and his business that is so loved by the students of CMU, my classmate Jessie Headrick and I set out to produce this short animation introducing Joe’s Hotdog stand.

The Deliverable

We began by interviewing Joe, who happily agreed to help us with the project. Our goal was to highlight Joe and his hotdog stand as a beloved member of our campus and share a part of his story. In the spirit of the Joe’s humble and lovable hotdog stand, our final video used a combination of colorful illustrations and handmade textures. The video ends with a quote that captures Joe's encouragements to the students of Carnegie Mellon University.
